Before the old one may be removed, the battery of the car is disconnected. This could be done by the removal of one of the terminals so that there is no power flow from the battery to the car. This may cause shock or short circuiting in a car.
Once the terminal is disconnected, the next step would be to remove the head unit using the hook tool from the Ford. There are small openings around the head unit that may be noted. Insert the hook tool into each of this opening and push it towards you. When pushed gently, the clips holding the head unit firm is clicked open and now the head unit may be pushed out easily.
The radio is removed so that it has enough room to remove and disconnect the various connections that may be found in rear. These are removed and then the head unit is removed out of the dash and set aside.
The next part is the installation of another radio. This radio may be either a Ford one or any other brand. For a Ford one, the process is simplified because the mount and the connections are similar to the previous radio that was there. The radio have to be first connected to the wires and then inserted into the slit available for the head unit. Then, the clips are tightened so that it holds the head unit good.
On the other hand, when the other branded radios are used, the mount may have to be changed too. Therefore the already existing radio is removed by taking off the screws. The new mount for the given radio is installed and a suitable wiring harness is also used instead of the previous one used in a car.
Once the above Ford radio installation instructions are followed, the battery may be reconnected and checked if the head unit is properly connected and playing.
