General Motors is doing something that not many auto makers in the United States are doing these days – expanding production. The Lordstown, Ohio plant will add a third shift to accommodate production of the new compact car from GM, the Chevrolet Cruze. And why not? According to the Chicago Chevrolet price quote, the Cruze will be “a steal”.
The demand for the Cruze is expected to be great because the price is predicted to be a steal. The Cruze sedan, which will go on sale this fall, was unveiled at the New York Auto Show. Drag-reducing shutters that close the lower grille when the car is traveling at high speeds will help with this impressive fuel economy. The Cruze also features a deep front air dam and under-body panels which add to the efficiency. Although you will have to wait a few months for the Cruze, your Elmhurst used car dealer has many Chevrolet models in stock now that can already achieve very good efficiency, both in fuel and price.
As with most Chevy models, several choices will be available for the Cruze, including trim packages in LS, LT and LTZ. The LS comes with a 136-horsepower and 1.8-liter four cylinder. The LT and LTZ will feature turbo. Want a sportier look? Then go for the RS package and get the addition of rocker panel extensions and a rear spoiler as well as foglamps, not to mention the upgraded interior features like backlit instrument cluster bezels and chrome trim.
But the price is what customers want to know up front. Will this even be enough of a bargain to consider visiting the showroom? Well, official numbers on fuel economy and price won’t be available until later this year, but industry experts are predicting it will be a steal, and GM is literally banking on it. Savvy buyers wanting an affordable Chicago Chevrolet price quote may be pleasantly surprised by the final tag on the economic Cruze.
Perhaps the Cruze will be a model, like the new Malibu, that helps turn the tide for GM. It will certainly help the Lordstown community, which expected the GM manufacturing plant there to be round-the-clock back in 2008 when a $350 million investment was made by the company in that facility.
Two shifts were eliminated at Lordstown in January 2009, leaving about 2,800 workers wondering what was next. Then last April the entire plant was shut down for three weeks to save on costs. The welcome addition of the third shift there will not only be a boost for the community, but also for GM’s image.
Elmhurst used car customers will want to check out the new Cruze when it makes its showroom debut this fall. In the meantime, Chevrolet has many other models worth checking out, some of them priced to steal.
