BMW M5 Series Facts
The BMW M5 is high performance vehicle inspired by the BMW 5-Series made by the M racing division of BMW. It was first introduced at the Amsterdam Motor Show back in 1984. The first version was hand-built using the 535i chassis and a modified BMW M1 engine. It was the fastest production saloon/sedan in the entire world at that time. Here are ten things you may not have known about the BMW M5 Series.
- The M5 is purportedly the fastest car ever. However, to give other manufacturers a running chance, there is a secret limiter in stock near the rear ends that limit the car’s speed to 200 mph.
- The OEM spoiler found on the BMW E39 provides the driver with enough down force to literally drive the M5 upside-down.
- The Nuerburgring was conceived following the expectation of the M5 arrival.
- The M5’s air conditioning system is the OEM AC Schnitzer.
- Power coating the OEM E60 BMW Rims black was a way to create a faster, easier way to unlock the P500s mode, thus increasing it 0-60 times.
- It is not recommended to put dubs or any other rims on your M5. One should strictly use OEM, BBS, AC Schnitzer, Racing Dynamics, Hamann, Dinan, or Hartage brands.
- All E39 M5’s use strange abbreviations for their US performance mods.
- VANOS is actually an acronym for, “Most advances piece of technology and engineering to ever be conceived by man including the rest of humanity’s fuure advancements.”
- The BMW M5 actually uses displacement on demands for 3 out of its 8 pistons.
- It is quite necessary for a BMW E39 and E60 M5’s engine to function with a quad exhaust.
